Grandparents
Who are the
ones who take care of you, when your parents are not there?
Sitters?
Yeah for sure, some of us do have that. For instance since babyhood, my brother
and I, had a sitter, more like an elder sister, as my parents are both at work.
However, who
are the ones who spoil you with candies, money or any unexplained random gifts?
Who are the ones who fuss about to be the first to buy you your first pyjamas?
Indeed our Grandparents!
They love
you more than you can even imagine. An arab saying goes as: “Your child’s child
is always sweeter”.
You are their first thought when they are out
shopping. All grandparents will bustle over you, so that you never feel that
you lack something material or emotional. They will let go of their guards to
grant you anything to see your smile.
Grandparents give their grandchildren more
love than they gave their own children. Usually, parents, under the pretext of
discipline, do not like that grandparents give the kids all that they wish, so
that’s what bring them closer and strengthen that bond and give us the reason
to love them even more.
You will
never feel hungry when you are at your grandparent’s place, as their aim at
that age is to overfeed your stomach with the best that they have. Their number
one priority is that you lack nothing and always be content. Be it a pillow, a
cookie or even an underwear.
Seeing you
happy make their hearts flutter with joy. Seeing you sad makes them feel
terrible.
How many of
us, even my mum at this age still relives those cherished moments, recall those
stories, real or made-up, that our grandparents make it a point to relate to
us, alter the “in our time” or the “earlier” notes by default added to
those 😊
Unfortunately
for those of us who have lost our grandparents at an early age, their love and
care will be there with us eternally. No doubt, there is a void that is
irreplaceable!
Grandkids are the twinkle in the grandparents’
eyes. All their ails disappear just by a single glance at their energetic
grandkids. Our sole presence in front of them rejuvenates their youth.
Our aim is to always cherish and display our love and respect.
