Hope
A luminous
ray of light in a big room, full of darkness.
A possibility
that something good might happen, when all bad things come rushing at you.
A feeling in
our heart or soul that tells us to hold on, that the best is yet to come.
This is what
HOPE is.
How does
hope comfort you?
It helps you
survive through the difficulty. It gives you the strength to wake up every
morning, not knowing what destiny has in store for you, but still gather the
courage to face what has been written for you.
Take an
orphan for example. The child might have been in an orphanage since he/she
was an infant. Or might have spent half
of their lives with their parents, but unfortunately lost them in a possible
tragedy. In either case, life becomes extremely hard to face.
Just
imagine, waking up every morning with the hope of having a better life, living
with someone who will shower you with their love. The orphan may wish for a
mother to cuddle him/her.
Another prominent
example is that of a soldier.
He/she puts his/her
life on the line for their country’s safety, with the eminent fear that one day
he/she may not be able to go back to their families alive.
Nevertheless,
they still bravely do it; they still march out to the battlefield, determined
to stop the threat with the hope to go home to a family optimistically waiting
for their return.
A current
crestfallen circumstance; the areas of perpetual conflicts such as Kashmir,
Syria, Palestine, Yemen where fights, missiles, destruction, separation and death have
over time become their wretched reality, these people still go to sleep, hoping
for a healed future.
Even so,
children still find a way to educate themselves and strive for a better
tomorrow. What else can we call that, but Hope?
This is the
flickering light that helps them to survive these harsh days.
Per se, there
is an innumerable untold stories, of the unfavourable phases of life, but
people continue lighting the candle of Hope, with the broadest smile on their
faces that gives no indication of what they are going through.
In the story
of ‘Pandora’s box’, there is a phrase which says, “As long as there is trouble
in this world, I (HOPE) will always be there to console all of humankind”.
And till
date, Hope has proven us wrong and has been our companion every time we feel
abandoned.
Long live HOPE!!
